Rant: Nationals

Warning, another rant

GOOD FUCKING LORD!!

How dare we QUESTION, COMMENT, and or COMPLAIN about something the almight BCOA and their board do.

Give me a fucking break.

Next year's National's has RIDICULOUS hotel rates. $137.00 for up to three dogs, $187.00 for four dogs. When we comment that this is getting a bit too much for the normal Joe to spend ) ($1233.00 for 9 days or 1683.00 if you want to stay all week, yes, you can split with a friend, but have no more than 4 dogs!). And that's just the HOTEL, not food, travel, rental, whatever, we get this OMG, how dare we attitude. Nowhere were the comments directed at the people putting it on(I personally said it's not against them), it's against the cost of things

What's funny is, the cost of the Nationals has been a gripe for years now, but when someone came up with an idea (hold the show at a fairgrounds and everyone hotel where possible) there was so much animosity towards the idea.

These richer than the normal person can't seem to get it thru their head that the normal person, the backbone of the dog world, can not afford to toss away money like this, especially if they ahve family(I don't have a family, but even i have a problem choking down this price). If it continues, it is goign to become the elitist, only those with more money than brains or local folks who go. . well, that's one way to make the Nat'ls smaller so it won't take as long.

I really want to go, tho I don't expect to do anything under Bengston, I haven't been to an entire nationals since what, 2004. I hope to have Grins ready for the Triathalon, show my peanut(Kani), and enjoy myself, but with this type of attitude, why should we bother?

What gets even worse is when people say they're on a 'budget', but they still manage to do these things. Budget does not equate to showing all over the Southwest and paying for a handler to special your dog, nor does it equate to going coursing with 5 dogs(at even the cheapest rates up here that's $180.00 a weekend), that's not living on a budget. .get real people.

What's really stupid is, when some comment finding a hotel elsewhere for cheaper costs, we get told the club may be penalized if they don't 'sell' as many rooms.

Well, they can be penalized for me staying elsewhere, or they can be penalized for me staying home.

Let alone the fact that this place refuses to take phone reservations.

Phooey, if I go, I’m going to see about staying elsewhere for Friday-Monday morn, then the host hotel for the rest of the week, not going to bother staying for MBC, so wont’ have to stay Sunday. Depending on how many dogs we can have, and if we can get Nancy to come up, we can split the “Suite” for 2 or three people.

But GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ

breeding

Breeding isn't for the faint hearted. It is hard, it is tough, it is heartbreaking. And it's expensive.
Yet people still jump into it.

Someone I know is looking for a 'wife' for her Borzoi. . . Let me start off saying this is a wonderful home, a good friend, but she is a novice.

This borzoi really has IMHO nothign to offer to the breed. . He has sibligns that are better than him, and sweeter than him. Hell, she was ready to neuter him 6 months ago, so not sure why the change of heart.

This person lives in a postage stamp yard which is not conduit to raising a litter of puppies, and I told her that last year, told her to do it right she was going to have to sell her house and move, but she can't do that, the house holds too many memories. Well, it's not set up for a puppy yard. It's not in a part of town I'd feel safe leaving a litter of puppies outside, her fence latch has been broken at LEAST 2 times. It's half concrete (privacy fence surrounded), half grass with a 4 ft fence. Hell, my itty bitty yard in TX was bigger than this one!

She got offended when I told her these facts. Suddenly I was saying she was a bad home(gods, why do I keep running into these people who take your word and twist it to mean other things?) and that's not what I was saying. I was and am saying it's not a good setup for a litter of puppies.

And she's got no clue how much money goes into puppies. I told her about the litter Tip came out of and the cost ($1500+), the nightmare Nancy's litter was(think she told me it cost her $5000), to my 2nd litter which cost me $3000 and that's not including food. I told her about emergency c sections($800-$1500 depending on where you go), losing your bitch, blah blah blah, but she's got it in her head I think she's a bad home.

I asked her what she was goign to do if she got a litter of 8 and still had 5 at 6 months? hell, my 2nd litter, using a proven stud dog to a proven bitch, I still grew out almost half the litter til they were 2!!! her house is not set up for them, nor is that yard, and got the 'Oh, I have friends who met my boy and want one just like him'. Yeah, we've all heard that, and when push comes to shove, they can't take one for whatever reason. And she's the type of person who's afraid of hurting others feelings and so will probably be unable to honestly say a friend of hers is not a good home for a dog. Hell, I love my mother, dearly, but I wouldnt' place a Borzoi with her! My sister, who I sent Sage to, wouldn't be a good home for a dog like Grins or Gossip. (love ya sis, but you're not! Yard isn't big enough!). Some homes can handle anything. . .

::Sigh:: When she had said she'd neuter this boy, I'd offered to co own 2nd pick bitch from the litter, as she wanted a show/performance dog. . .yet since a guy has come into her life, she hasn't shown the interest you need to have in order to do these things. . In fact, since she got hooked on this guy and lost her mom, she's gone to exactly one event, to watch a show. You want a top of the line show/performance dog, you need to be out learning, show some interest.

Let alone the fact no contact between us since January, yeah, I want to send a puppy to that type of home, . . btdt, got the pick bitch of the twilight litter in a home like that. So instead, 2nd pick goes to Sis if there's one right for her.

So now she's mad at me, but OTOH, I'm not going to be responsible for a mess because she doesn't want to listen. I should've realised this might be a problem when she refused to send her boy to camp for a week so he could get into shape to see if he'd run clean once that happened. She couldn't bear to be away from him. . .so she may not've been willing to listen to me on how to raise a puppy girl properly, which for a pet is fine, for a show bitch, it's not. . so now she'll go to Europe, which is another whole can of worms and problems. . .::SIGH: I've been there done that, wasted money and had wonderful pets.

Dei & Agility

Hopefully we'll get a fence up and I can get a video of this

Just ran Dei thru the agility equipment, and she actually did it with some speed and showed that she does know the names for various items, it tickled me pink. She's still doing the teeter totter without speed, but is getting better with some maneuvering of the harness & leash, overall I was tickled.

Now to lose weight so I can do this with as much speed as she does LOL

the princess

She wasn't a show dog.
She never entered the show ring
She never walked upon a coursing field
Not many knew her or ever met the sweet girl who reminded me so much of her mother.

What she was was a sweet big girl, who was a pet, who I had to rescue from her first home, from THE WITCH AKA the cobreeder from hell. I'm so glad I was able to get somebody to buy her from THE WITCH, with the raging infection she had that wasn't being dealt with properly by THE WITCH, she would've been dead by the end of the year. And so glad that her guardian angel walked into my life less than a month after I got her home and took her into her home. With the advantage of having a vet for a daughter, all of Nakita's subsequent health problems were taken care of

What she was was the good dog of a retired lady in the mountains of NY for the last 8 yrs, which was 6 yrs longer than I thought she'd be because of those health problems that cropped up from the neglect she got. She showed what good love, proper vet care and good food can do for a dog. She loved to sunbath in the spring & fall, watch her housemate chase the deer across the pasture, and when he as gone, looked with disdain at her Nephew who moved in shortly after his mom was killed in a drunk driving accident. She was a princess, and a good girl, and was soo much like her mother.

What she was, was the first big mistake I made in Borzoi, the first of many, but you learn by your mistakes, and I'm no longer as trusting as I was. It's been a very hard habit to break, living a military brat life, I am beginning to think I was very sheltered, but she (and the other mistakes I've made) helped me learn that all dog people are not created equal, there are a lot of scumbags in this world and they will use and abuse and throw you aside once they get what they want from you. Those mistakes have also taught me, peoples words are only as good as their ethics, and in many case, means not worth more than the litter my cats crap in. Three verbal contracts, three backing out of those contracts. No more

What she was, was also part of the lesson that showed there were a lot of good dog people in the world, as friends came together to get her out of the hell hole she was in, and get her back to me.

Who she was, was the 1st born girl of my very first litter, the daughter of Am/Can Ch Abidjan Diamond Sabre, JC, CD X Ch Shefaro Mielikki Ebn HaSanna ROM, and now she's an angel
Mielikki's Shefaro Pasaflora AKA Nakita 9/27/97-4/8/08-kidney failure, back problems and a failing rear took her at almost 10.5. Fly sweet Nakita.

thoughts, thoughts and more thoughts

Yeah, it's wed, what a long freaking week this has been.

It's sad when you try and point someone towards a responsible, ethical points of information about someone they're doing business with, and they refuse to take that step. Maybe they won't have a problem, but since everyone else I've pointed towards a good source of information about a different person always came back and said "You Told Me So", only time'll tell.

If someone had pointed me towards someone like that, I'd've never've gotten into business with The Witch, but instead the only information I got warning me away from her was that she slept with judges(Oh boy, I can't count on two hands the number of people who supposedly do this just because they win), or she used her dogs to traffic drugs across the border. If someone had pointed me towards a SANE person who'd had dealings with her, the story may've been different, but then I also wouldn't've had my Kyra. . .but at least Kyra's breeder was breeding for show dogs, I had a better chance of getting what I wanted.

Oh well, can't say I didn't try.

Gossip was a good girl at the show, need to work on her down and back. She tends to stand funny on that foot where the amputation is 50% of the time(toeing in) But she behaved nicely, gaited nicely, didn't do anything, but it was a training experience.

Puppies for Touchet are due end of June. . the waiting list grows LOL. I don't think she'll have enough puppies if everyone follows thru.

Breeding

I thought breeding was supposed to be EASY.

or at least, those who breed a gazillion litters seem to make it seem so.

Touchet definitely doesn't go by the textbook and has taught me a valuable lesson: Dates, dates dates. I will be marking down dates a bitch stands from now on. Day 17 and we got another breeding, in the pouring damn COLD rain, soaked to the skin, guess she just wanted a REAL man not a boy. .poor Wizard, screamed his head off the entire time. told him he'll get his chance next year, he was originally Dei's intended anyway

Off to spruce up da Goose, get on some dry clothes, and head to work.

Gossip & breeding

Gossip's all bathed up, blown out, drip drying a bit before I finish the act. I absolutely positively HATE showing a bitch in season. . .haven't done it in years, after Kyra was an idiot and flagged the damn tent post and the judge. What a slut lOL But that's why my newest problem is so frustrating, never dealt with it.

She's still flagging, she's still letting him mount, I wonder if she's got a stricture and that's the issue I had with the last litter, so I'll be throwing her, Mr Stud Muffin and Gossip in the van, heading to the show, following Vanessa back to her Repro vet for an eval and an AI.

OH JOY!!! What we do for puppies. Will have to make sure to have Gossip eval'd before we breed her, JUST in case.

Thursday news

Got a pic of Hecate(FKA Rumour) and boy do I really want Touchet to have another litter of pupies. .that bitch has such a gorgeous head, and she was one of the three I could not decide between! (secret & Goose were the other two)

Umbra's looking absolutely FANTABULOUS after his bath last night, hopefully Kathy Wright'll love him as much as I do next month. . Hand hurts too bad to do his teeth tonite, but will do it again tomorrow.

Humpday news

Well, Gossip proved they're not known as bitches without reason: she's in season, 10 days before her debute after the injury. Going to the specialty beginning of next month wth Umbra and her is goign to be SOO MUCH DAMN FUN!!!

NOT!!!!

Progress is being made between Mr Wizard & Ms Touchet, lots of flagging, flirting courting, hopefully tomorrow the "deed" will commence in seriousness.

Spent some time working on Umbra's teeth. Of all the things I wish he had NOT inherited from his father, bad peridontal health is one of them. . .Rinka and Kyra both had great teeth up until their deaths, Garrett had horrid teeth before he reached 4. . .ick ick ick.

Waiting to see how much Bonnie enjoyed her first judging assignment.

Gossip's first show as an adult is this weekend. Hopefully she'll be a good girl. . and hopefully I can show with my bum finger. No idea how I did it, but managed to really f*ck up my ring finger on my right hand, OWWWWWWWW

Nice damn weekend

Whahoo.

Unfortunately I let my cell die last night LOL (I was busy introducing Mr Wiz to his lady to be) Otherwise I know Ms Nancy would’ve called me with this WONDERFUL news

Sammy, a Kyra grandpuppy, my pick puppy out of Nancy’s B litter in fact, picked up a BIF win this weekend. I know his owner is flying on cloud 9. She’s wanted a great running dog since Wings retired, and she’s got one. I am so glad I was able to connect those two(nancy & Robin) when I couldn’t take Mr Sammy-man

I told his future wife to be(Kani), she didn’t care LOL. She’s in that young(2.5) teenager brain stage, what EVER LOL

Mr River went coursing and picked up some more points towards his FCH. I can’t wait to see what his puppies are like, if they have his silly goofy temperament, I know the breeder will be ecstatic! And she was able to see the LIE that was spread about him running dirty was just that, and since she’s been doing this quite a long time, I think she knows what the hell she’s talking about.

And Ms Gossip continues to heal. She actually PLAYED with Mr Wizard last night, or at least, tried to get him to play LOL HE was exhausted after his first full weekend of coursing. She spent most of the weekend in the big yards playing, came up a little lame, but seems to be fine this morning. Every boy seems to be interested in her butt, I wish she’d come into season damnit!! My luck, she’ll wait til the middle of the spring racing.

ARGH.

gossip

Wahoo

Gossip's been a yard dog for the last day and a half, and she's SOUND

WAHOO!!

Finishing a thought**

Raced out to dinner last night, and didn't finish my thought. This is a continuation of a post two posts down.

The reason I SHOULD'VE gone to the cobreeder is when I finally did go to her, she DENIED that she was ever told about a puppy back agreement.

Taught me some valuable lessons
1)contracts, contracts, contracts
2) you can't trust most people.
3) never pick a baby puppy out. I've had crap luck picking any puppy I did not breed.

No good deed goes unpunished

yeah, yeah, I know that's not the way it's supposed to go.

6+ yrs ago, someone new to the breed contacted me, told me she had been screwed by Kyra's breeder. She made me feel sorry for her, all she wanted was a performance dog, and she got two pets. And I don't mean show dogs sold as pets, i mean pets, horrid quality bitches. I had an abundance of boys in my most recent litter, one of which had had a show/performance home, until he had came up missing a number of teeth. He was keen as hell, but I had two brothers who were better put together IMHO, and better dentition, as well as better movement(he moved narrow in the rear). She told me all she wanted was a performance pet, that she had no desire to show.

So I sent her said dog. After people raved over him at a field trial, she asked if I would change it to full registration. If I truly thought this dog was a pet, I wouldn't've. The agreement was in exchange for my GIVING her this dog, and changing over his papers, that I would get a puppy, free of charge from a litter sired by him.

He finished a number of titles, and she bred him. I fell in love with a little girl who looked JUST like her Uncle Obie, my heart & joy dog, and fell hard. It was only after they were a certain age, after I was fully and totally in love with her, that she told me I had to pay for her

WTF?!?! When I pointed out our agreement, she insisted the cobreeder said I had to pay for this puppy due to all her vet bills. Right then and there, I should've contacted the cobreeder and asked her about this, but nope, stupid me, I believed her.**

Got said puppy. She was gorgeous, she was sweet as can be, temperamentally sound. She grew up like her father had, in a huge pasture, playing with my Greyhound and her uncle Obie who was great with puppies.

She matured beautifully bodywise, except for a cathedral front. Nothing to worry about, it's her age, I'll let her grow up some more, practiced her LGRA, tried to get her JC, but she didn't have the interest on plastic. Let her mature mentally some more, wasn't able to get her to practice due to lack of practices or trials ending so damn late I had to head home.

But she did run LGRA, unfortunately, other than CCNY, the nearest LGRA was 4.5 hrs away, and I was more into coursing, as there was more of that a lot closer, so she ran here and there.

Then the 'friend' started riding my ass to get her out, to show her, told her she was small and immature and was doing funny things with her front movement. She & I got into a huge fight over it. I was showing in one of the most competitive parts of the country, and if a dog wasn't a 'white dog', it had to be mature and ready to show.

Finally had a person I highly respect, who has put multile BIS/SBIS wins on various dogs, as well as handled a bitch to #1 Borzoi, someone who KNOWS what a show quality Borzoi is, and she agreed with me, little girl did not have proper Borzoi movement, decent reach, but too much lift.

That started off another argument, but I adored little girl, she was Obie's mini me, and so I kept her, even tho her movement wasn't perfect, she had a lot of good points about her, and with the proper boy, I could fix that movement.

Than my life went to hell. . .and her breeder suddenly became nice, offered to buy her back, told her I was thinking of sending her back, as I didn't know where I was going, let alone my dogs, she offered to pay me twice what I paid for her, I said no, I didn't pay that, she said you need it, take it.

So I did.

Really, if you think about it, she finally paid me for the father. .

And like I said, she offered and insisted I take it. . .needing the money due to what the idiot did, I did, returned lil girl, in good shape, happy healthy and silly, even tho it killed me. . .but it was best for her.

And now I hear from three different sources she's telling people I DEMANDED she pay me the money. One source I trust, one source who's a shit stirrer, and one who people I respect trust. Bullshit.

So much for friends, hunh?

teaches me to be nice to people, second time I felt sorry for someone, and second time I got burned. . .

Wahoo

So, took Gossip & Grins to the front pasture, gave the spawn of satan the squawker and told him when I raised my hand, to squawk it, once.

Got about 2/3 of the way down the field, turned, unleahsed the monsters, and waved.

And without looking back or at Grins who was riding her shoulder, Gossip spun away

WAHOO!!!!

And as to my prior rant LOL Looking at the results, even if I hadn't ran Whirlwind for Bonnie, and even Eros, it would've affected the points ONCE LOL. . .in 17 events. . .there has been enough dogs at every event to make sure the 2nd place dog gets the most points possible. . only one did it have any real barring on Gossip's NGRC points

Just goes to show SOUR GRAPES LOL

jealousy

Is such a lovely thing, isn't it?

Someone sent me a link to a breeder i do not respect(for a wide variety of reasons including being two faced), where she is ranting over my ad that Gossip finished her SGRC undefeated.

She fails to understand that she did it beating most dogs younger than her. .yep, I took some of my older guys who run out, because they enjoy it and in hopes of finishing a title or two on them. Dei's suddenly started running and beating dogs younger than her, so why not take her out?

She also fails to understand I take out what I'm told to take out. I've begged Bonnie to send some of her young dogs out, she doesn't want to, she has no respect for straight racing unfortunately. Hopefully she'll let me take Surya out this year, the youngsters won't go out until they've seen the coursing field.

Gods, this woman is so hypocritical, she has no problem with her buddy running around with 8 dogs, getting an SORC3 on a dog by running him with dogs 8-10+ yrs of age(same buddy got her dogs asses kicked by Izzy & Grins when we showed up when she had a huge entry), and pulling a number of the dogs after the first race, just putting them in for points. The same buddy enters ten dogs in open and pulling everyone of them but the one she wants to win, but that's her BUDDY, but she gets her panties in a bind when I take three of my dogs racing.

I don't pull my dogs unless it's too hot, which I did a couple of times last fall, when the day started nice and got too warm for Grins. If it hadn't, he'd've kept running.

I have no idea what her freaking problem is. .. my good friend says she's jealous, and worried, she's held top Borzoi in LGRA for the last few years, and Gossip's got a chance of taking that away.

Gossip has ran against all comers, older and younger. She's stupid if she can't see that, but oh wait, she's the reason(partially) that Gossip got named Gossip, cuz she and her friends were slandering the entire litter, because they were 1/4 shefaro, and 1/2 pickle hill. They even tried to ruin a puppysale for me.

Even more hypocritical, NOW she has a 1/2 pickle hill bitch, talk about IRONIC!!

I'm so glad the entries in the NE have gotten bigger again. She's beat some fast dogs, from Casino, to Cal, to Una, to Izzy, to Raven, to Wizard, to Jojo, to Novel, to Grins, to oh what is that little tri's name that is from Massachusetts, damn, can't think of her name, oh, Orleans! None of them to sniffle at, all of them fast dogs. All of them, even the one bred by this idiot, are nice dogs. And all but maybe Casino & Grins are younger than Gossip.

But hey, ya know what, I can just grin and smile, as her #1 dog isn't undefeated, no matter what his fan club tried to spread up in the NE a few years back. Wings beat him the 1st time out, or she could probably say the same damn thing.

But then, from what I was told she doesn't like racing anymore, because dogs growl at the end and her oh so soft weenie dogs were put off by it and she packed her bags up at one event and went home because of it.

If she truly thinks Gossip's crap, put her money where her mouth is, but since at least two of her good friends say otherwise about Gossip, maybe she should listen!!!

Hope Gossip will run the oval next weekend!

Life

Took gossip & Dei out front, and Gossip ran herself til her tongue hung out 6 inches LOL And seemed to be sound, time'll tell. I hope to get her to the oval next weekend and run her a practice and see if that toe holds up. That'll tell me if she's ready to go.

She's also starting to do her flip return on the world FLIP! Which has me tickled pink.

Home is lonely without Fidget, but I know it was for the best, even as I miss her. . from 8 kitties 2 yrs ago to 4 today. . .thankfully three of them are young, with just Prissy Pandora the sole remaining geriatric at 14.

saying goodby

Fidget was found abandoned in the mountains of germany over 16 yrs ago, she never forgave the human race for the crap she went thru as a wee tiny baby. Never warmed up to us, would shy from me, I had to chase her down to give her any sort of loving. She loved her kitty sibs, and would play and snuggle and bath, but humans are only good to fill the food bowl, fill the water bowl, empty the crapper and turn on the heating blanket.

At her healthiest, she may've weighed 8 lbs, today, she may weigh 2-3, and I think I'm going to have to let her go today.

She was diagnosed with kidney failure back in January, I hate this fucking disease. This will be the third confirmed case I've had in two years, and i wonder if it was the food, as I fed a lot of the food that was recalled over the years.

Up until this last week, she's been doign well, eating decently even tho she's lost weight, not having problems moving around, but last night was hard, she kept meeping, but I couldn't figure out why, it tore at my heart. I woke up to her curled up against my legs, but was so worried about accidentally rolling over on her since she weighs nothing, that I put her in a crate with a towel, opened, but that way the monster threesome couldn't bother her

She got up this morning to get something to drink, but still not hungry. I left this morning with her hunched over on her towel like she's in pain, but not interested in food. I tried to move her back to the crate, and she hopped out and stumbled back to the shelf she's been sleeping on, dragging her back feet.

I wiped food on her nose, she didn't eat, her nose is no longer pink, so i think the anemia that finally took Cleo has her in it's cluthces now. She's nothing but a tiny ancient looking kitty. .

You know you've got a true friend when she's willing to call and make the appointment cuz you know you won't be able to get it out without crying your heart out.

Doesn't mean I'm not crying, just don't have to get words out while I'm crying, and so glad my back is to the door of my cubicleso nobody can see me bawling.

But she'll have plenty of company with her big brother Schatzi, and Mama Cleo, mr I am Siamese if you please Sushi, Abu the chatterbox, and sweet shy spook, and the little angel I didn't have long enough Morgaine, let alone the dogs. . .my home'll just be empty without her evil little looks, her growling when I pick her up, and the insistant squeaks when she hears the can opener.

When she laid on the bed this morning and let me scritch her chin, and didn't move, I had to realise she's tired of this world.

This isn't the first, it's not even the 12th time I've lost someone i've loved. . .When does it stop hurting so much to let them go. .she's not my first, she's not even my tenth, she doesn't love me, so why does it hurt so much.

they're not known as bitches for nothing

::SIGH:: Touchet came into season early

Unfortunately, she'll be ready during the middle of the BCOA nationals

can we say frustrated?

two down, one to go

just got the call from my vet, Touchet's thyroid is NORMAL! :)

TWo down, now to get her eyes checked ;)

yeah, very tickled mom. Way my luck's been, was truly expecting something to be wrong. . .now the worry that she won't take :P
