of puppies & things

Someone I highly respect came over this last week and we had a nice visit, and with her help, I was able to get new photos of the puppies, even stacked photos, WAHOO!!
http://www.mielikkishunt.com/NCISpuppies.htm

She gave me her opinions on the puppies, and I'm tickled to find they pretty much mirrored mine. Unfortunately, a few of the boys at this point in time(20 wks) have their mother's movement, which is a bit lifty, but it's one of the things I wanted to fix on her. It may change as they settle into themselves, they're starting to do all sorts of wonkyk things with their feet and pasterns as they start teething. It may not change, it is in the pedigree, one of the reasons I returned Yanna was that lifty movement, tho bred the right way, you can fix it, as many of these pups showed me

She agreed with me that Jenny should only go to a proven performance/show home. Even said that if she didn't have as many dogs, Jenny could go live with her. High compliment coming from a lady who's handled a number of specialty winning dogs.

So, it's down to Timmy being the only one i'm looking to place right now, Jenny's going to grow out here. Abbey's leaving in little over two weeks. So i'm very tickled with the quality of the pups and the homes they've found. I think John's going to have a lot of fun with Gibbs.

Bathed Eros last week, brushed 10 lbs of hair off of him, said friend went over him, watched him move, and agreed we should try and finish him. Will be entering him in a show. He's biggish, whitish, and hairy as all get out, and sounder than most of what's in the ring, so he might have a chance. So he, Gossip & Kani'll be out and about here and there being shown by Kari or I. Yes, Gossip no longer looks like a giant Greyhound :)

Our OB place is under new management, which hopefully means they'll get their agility equipment back. Really want to continue working with GOssip in that.

Next weekend is a funmatch, Eros, 3-4 puppies & me, oh joy!! LOL

Scary, scary information on HSUS

http://www.humanewatch.org/HSUSad_NYT.pdf

Part of why I don't support hsus/peta

I read anotehr blog, which is usually a good read, but the owner and some of her followers are totally oblivious to the evils of HSUS/PETA, including calling me paranoid for even suggesting they are evil .. well, here is part of why I don't support either

"Let us allow the dog to disappear from our brick and concrete jungles--from our firesides, from the leather nooses and chains by which we enslave it." John Bryant, Fettered Kingdoms: An Examination of A Changing Ethic Washington, DC: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, (PeTA), 1982, p. 15.

"The cat, like the dog, must disappear... We should cut the domestic cat free from our dominance by neutering, neutering, and more neutering, until our pathetic version of the cat ceases to exist." John Bryant, Fettered Kingdoms: An Examination of A Changing Ethic (Washington, DC: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA), 1982, p. 15.

"We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of livestock produced through selective breeding. One generation and out. We have no problem with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human selective breeding." Wayne Pacelle, Senior VP of Humane Society of the US, formerly of Friends of Animals and Fund for Animals, Animal People, May, 1993

When asked if he envisioned a future without pets, “If I had my personal view, perhaps that might take hold. In fact, I don’t want to see another dog or cat born.” Wayne Pacelle, quoted in Bloodties: Nature, Culture and the Hunt by Ted Kerasote, 1993, p. 266.

"[A]s the surplus of cats and dogs {artificially engineered by centuries of forced breeding) declined, eventually companion animals would be phased out, and we would return to a more symbiotic relationship--enjoyment at a distance." Ingrid Newkirk, PeTA, "Just Like Us? Toward a Notion of Animal Rights", Harper's, August 1988, p. 50.

"Breeders must be eliminated! As long as there is a surplus of companion animals in the concentration camps referred to as "shelters", and they are killing them because they are homeless, one should not be allowed to produce more for their own amusement and profit. If you know of a breeder in the Los Angeles area, whether commercial or private, legal or illegal, let us know and we will post their name, location, phone number so people can write them letters telling them 'Don't Breed or Buy, While Others DIE.'" "Breeders! Let's get rid of them too!" Campaign on Animal Defense League's website, September 2, 2003.

"Our goal is to make [the public think of] breeding [dogs and cats] like drunk driving and smoking." Kim Sturla, former director of the Peninsula Humane Society and Western Director of Fund for Animals, stated during Kill the Crisis, not the Animals campaign and workshops, 1991

"My goal is the abolition of all animal agriculture." JP Goodwin, employed at the Humane Society of the US, formerly at Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade, as quoted on AR-Views, an animal rights Internet discussion group in 1996.

POison Ivy

Well, after 2.5 yrs of living here, I found out, yes, I do have a poison ivy allergy

LOVELY!!!

Off to wash in this poison ivy be gone crap :P

weekend pt 2 & puppy homes

This weather is CRAZY!!! I was freezing this morning. It's middle of July, and when I left for work, I tured on the heat. . lol.

Sunday went well, all three boys showed lure interest, with Tony being NUTSO fori t. . Also, very much like his namesake, he found the huge plate glass window of the business who let us use their field and had to preen himself. "Look at that VERY handsome puppy" LOL Gibbs was also keen on it, Timmy is like their mother, keen when it's moving, long as he runs clean, that's fine. Once it was dead, Eros nor Obie really had an interest in the plastic either.

Unlike the girls, the boy made the trip without a problem. .. no drooling, no puking, just Timmy tryign to take over the stick LOL That shoudl be Gibbs really :) Lots of compliments on the piranhas and I was very pleased with them.

Unfortunately, with it being a tiny meet(12 dogs, three each of four breeds), I spent all day on the ladder running the lure, so didn't get a chance to take photos of the puppies playing with the lure, but was very tickled.

Abbey has a home, YEAH!!!! She made a good impression, curling up in her mama's lap and just about falling asleep. Home comes highly highly recommended by a long time breeder in the breed, so I'm tickled, and IF Abbey decides to run, she'll run her. . heck, she may even show her, Abbey's showable, but I'm happy with a wonderful couch for her to sleep on.

Emma has moved in and taken over her household LOL And her owner is soo tickled, talking about running her and even trying her in agility. Couldn't ask for a better home, but I knew she would be, Sera had a nice life there.

So Ziva & Jenny are staying here, Jenny is available to a serious show/performance home. Ziva told me all along she was mine, and seeing how keen she is on the plastic as well as jackalure shows me that she knows more than I do :) I think I'm going to have fun with this little brindle girl, you can see the clogs moving in her little mind. . .she was a lot of people's favorite of the girls this weekend ;)

Waiting to see which of the boys John wants, but Bonnie's expressed interested in Tony De-Nose-Zo, so I'm excited :) I don't mind holding onto Jenny or Gibbs, they're both nice puppies!

Random vent: Politics

Totally off usual topic, but I need to vent after getting yet another fwded email./

I hate it when people feel the need to share their political views with you, no matter how much you try to hint that you don't want to hear it. . I don't care if you're for Obama or against Obama, he's the president, IMHO, if you're an american, you support him until such time as the next presidential campaign comes along. . .I'd say the same thing if it was McCain and that lunatic up at the white House. IMHO, our government is not working the way it is, change is better. You don't agree, that's fine, you don't see me stuffing my views down your throat, don't stuff yours down your throat.

This has nothing to do with blogs. . .where the poster is entitled to post their opinion. I am so sick of the emails i get from friends, good friends, who I don't want to ruin the friendship of, trashing Obama. Politics and friends just don't mix, not with most people, so please LEAVE It at that. I didn't ask your opinion of his presidency, so please don't stuff it in my face. I kept my political views to myself, hell, I didn't even discuss it with my MOTHER.

I will leave it at this myself. .I didn't vote. Once again, I was left with the thought of the lesser of two evils when looking at the presidential run, neither of them excited me enough to warrant standing out in the pouring, freezing rain in order to vote. . .the only thing I knew for sure was I did not want Palin near the Whitehouse, that woman is a loon and scares me, she needs to go disappear into the big white spanses of the great North . . OTOH, I don't care who's in the office, it's going to take a lot longer than 6 months for any president to pick up the pieces that the previous president(s) left us with.

So, to my friends. .stop sending me political emails. .i'd much rather get your religious spam, than your political spam. . and ya'll know how I stand on religion.

Great Day

Had a great day today, even if it did start WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too early

As has been the trend for the last few weeks, we had a wonderfully mildish day for July. HIgh 70's/low 80's. . .unfortunately Ms Reba, the little girl I enjoy to run cuz she's so sane, came into season, so I loaded Gossip, Focus, & First into the car. . .I have no clue where the totally obstinate, bone headed, thick skulled crap this bitch exhibits come from. I don't remember her sire being so damn stubborn, granted, it's been almost 8 yrs since I saw him, but none in that litter is this stubborn. . .She refused to get in the car, refused to get into the xpen, refused to box(see a really annoying trend?). We had a bit of an attitude adjustment, but it didn't stick. Not sure if she's coming into season, but damn I wanted to hang her by her little brindle ears.

Then loaded three of the pups up. . Jenny, Ziva & Abbey all got to go for a ride.

Puppies can be so much fun. . poor Abbey, I had a puppy buyer meet me at the meet today, to visit with Abbey. This lady comes from a long time Borzoi breeder, highly recommended, has had two rescues, one of which is very sick. . well, her poor puppy was drooled upon by Ziva and puked on by Jenny . .poor baby, Abbey had no problem with the ride, but her sisters made it HELL LOL

Focus is a fast little bitch, sister to Wizard & Bartleby who've done well for themselves. Poor thing, Gossip played with her mind LOL Ran only as hard as she had to to barely be ahead of her, and then suddenly slipped into 5th gear and won the race by 3-4 lengths LOL It's like she's playing a game with them, silly ass bitch.

Showing her beautiful spine :)

L-R: Jenny, Abbey, Ziva

In between races, the girls got to play, Abbey was lukewarm over it, which is fine, looks like she
will have a wonderful pet home to love her. Jenny & Ziva OTOH, are nuts for it.

Jenny says it's mine, all mine!! In fact, she tried to return to the car with it LOL

She wasn't at all too sure about the white thing that kept following her.
Been using a white rag to play with them, going to have to start tying a plastic bag on LOL

Ziva says this is great, can I do it again? She was nutso for it, I was so tickled.
You breed to a performance dog and hope you get running dogs. I know of litters
out of/by running dogs that were duds. Right now, it looks like this litter is NOT one of those.
Time'll tell

Puppies

Gibbs showing that he likes to kill the bunny. Wasn't brave enough to let them off lead completely LOL
I have found that teaching them to walk using the harness is 100% better than trying with something wrapped around their neck.
Tony meeting a little RR puppy. . .lol
My friend Susan Amicucci took the next two. She takes some awesome photos, hell, she's taken better
racing photos of my dogs than either one of the 'big name' photographers, and she's a novice still.

Ziva, coming in on the bunny
Ziva, taking that darn bunny out.
All 6 are going racing with me this weekend and Ms Emma may come out on Sunday. No, not all at once, three
will go Saturday, three sunday. Unfortunately it'll be a small meet, but fortunately it'll be a small meet, gives me more time to play with puppies after it's all done as well as makes sure i'm not too darn busy to check on them since I'll be running the lure

Gossip

Gossip's training has fallen to the way side, just had no time and energy with dealing with the puppies, but picked up some agility time the other day, she she tickled me pink:

She did the weaves

THREE TIMES!!

no, not fast, but she did them. I was so tickled.

We're also working off lead, and she's doign reasonably well :) After her season, we'll start classes again.

She's also doign a reliable retrieve, which I am so happy about. Granted, it's with a squeaky toy, but one step at a time :)

puppies

The first baby left the nest.

From the reports I've gotten, Emma's doing wonderful, being a good girl, stickign to her mama like white on rice, not putting up with any guff from the adult Zoi in the household. The littlest puppy whow as the biggest hellion here, is being the biggest Angel at her new home :)

How can a yard with 6 puppies be sooooooo empty? That little one has the biggest personality LOL

She's already won over her Mama, so it's a match made in heaven, even if she is already sleeping in the bed LOL

That was Friday, Saturday I stuffed(literally) a crate in the Neon, put three babies(Ziva, Gibbs & Tony) in the crate and Reba in the front seat and headed out to Hanover for coursing.

Now, I don't thinK I've EVER ran a dog in July, but damn, our weather has been very very strange. It was BEAUTIFUL this weekend. . (and looks to be beautiful for the makeup racing this coming weekend), with a wonderful, refreshing breeze, mid 80 temperatures. . strange strange weather.

Unfortunately, the ASFA entries up here are very much hit and miss, only 3 opens and 3 FCHS. . .Reba ran nicely and picked up one of the 2 1sts she needs for her FCH(she's only ran ASFA twice, placed 4th out of 16 I think it was the 1st time she ran). She pulled up in the BOB run, not sure what she did, but decided not to go back Sunday, just in case.

The babies all walked nicely on their harnesses. And even better, they ALL SHOWED lure interest! I was so darn tickled, Ziva was keen on that bunny. . bodes well for the future. Unfortunately I can't seem to get my picture poster to work to show the picture of Gibbs tearing the bunny apart
